2009-10 school budget, bus purchase proposition
pass
Voters in the
Niskayuna Central School District approved the
district's proposed 2009-10 budget on Tuesday,
May 19. The final tally was 1,614 yes votes to
1,020 no votes. Results were announced shortly
after polls at the high school closed at 9 p.m.
The nearly $74.5 million budget for next year is
expected to increase the tax levy by an
estimated 2.45 percent, the lowest increase in
six years, for residents in Niskayuna.
We are really appreciative of our taxpayers for
their continued support of our schools,
especially during these difficult economic
times, said Superintendent of Schools Kevin
Baughman. It shows how much our community
values education.
Voters also approved a bus purchase proposition.
That vote total was 1,623 yes votes to 986 no
votes.
In the Board of Education race, incumbents
Barbara Mauro and Robert Winchester were
re-elected to three-year terms, beginning July
